Thomas DeSouza

Chief Executive, Board Director

An experienced senior-level executive with a background in global business operations and management, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and strategic decision making, Thomas brings a unique business perspective and understanding to the executive team. He previously held a partner role at R.W. Baird & Co, a middle-market investment bank and financial services firm, as well as a Portfolio Manager position at Morgan Stanley. Serving as CEO for SemanticMD and as a board director for Scivanta Medical Corp, his enthusiasm for healthcare and innovation solutions is high. Prior to joining Synthesis, Thomas was the Global Head of Diagnostic Clinical Services and New Ventures at Philips. Thomas has held several public and private Board roles.

Dr. Aldo Ruffolo

President and Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Aldo Ruffolo has spent over 20 years providing high-level strategic leadership to the healthcare industry and previously held the role of Senior VP Operations at Envision Physician Services, Business Development, Mergers, and Growth Strategy, while also serving as a strategy consultant for health systems in the United States. Aldo previously held leadership roles in healthcare groups, including Sheridan Healthcare, AmSurg, Lakeland Healthcare (where he served as CEO), and Sarah Bush Lincoln. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and received his MBA from Kellogg School of Business.

Dr. Deepak Kaura

Chief Medical Officer

Deeply invested and embedded within healthcare as an experienced administrator, innovator, pediatric radiologist, and founding member of Pureform Radiology, Dr. Deepak Kaura is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer for Synthesis Health and the vice-chair of the CAN Health Network, a national partnership dedicated to the economic advancement of the Canadian healthcare system. Prior to joining the team, Deepak was the CMO of 1QBit, the chair of Joule, a Canadian Medical Association subsidiary, and spent five years in Qatar as the Executive Chair of Foundation of Clinical Services at Sidra Medicine, where he led the development of a new hospital.

Tyler Nelson

Chief Financial Officer

Tyler Nelson is an experienced financial professional that spent 12 years working in the healthcare and senior housing industry with Holiday Retirement, one of the largest senior housing providers in the world. At Holiday, he served a variety of leadership roles, most recently as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. ​​Prior to joining Holiday, he was an auditor with KPMG and focused on the high tech, multifamily, higher education and banking sectors. Tyler is a licensed CPA.

Jesse Wakley

Chief Technology Officer

Jesse Wakley is an experienced technology leader with a background in radiology and healthcare IT. He is the founder of Radiology Technology Inc. and previously served as the Director of IT/Development at Direct Radiology. He is also a registered PACS/RIS Administrator and RadTech.  Previously, he held the role of Technology Leader at Philips Diagnostic Clinical Services, where he was responsible for leading the overall technology strategy and overseeing IT operations.  He has created multiple healthcare platforms which have integrated with every healthcare vendor – processing billions of data transactions.

Dr. Murray A. Reicher

Chief Innovation Officer

Murray A. Reicher is an experienced radiologist, inventor, and serial entrepreneur. He is globally recognized for his work in automated computerized medical imaging, founding one of the world’s foremost PACS companies, D.R. Systems Inc. in 1992. Murray has also held several leadership positions in diagnostic radiology, having previously been the President of Radiology Medical Group Inc., the Chief Medical Officer for IBM Watson Health Imaging, and the CEO of D.R. Systems, which he founded. Murray currently serves as a clinical instructor at the University of California San Diego, in the Department of Radiology.

Scott Seberg

Chief Strategy Officer

Scott Seberg is a qualified executive with extensive management experience in various medical settings including academic hospitals, outpatient facilities, group practices, and managed care organizations. Scott’s previous appointments include CEO of Midwest Imaging Professionals, President of Meridian Regional Imaging, and Practice Director of Radiology at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He co-founded and currently holds a principal role at Paratus Healthcare Partners, a consulting and advisory services provider targeted towards medical practices.

Mark Pierce

Director of US Outpatient Imaging Operations

Mark Pierce has more than 25 years’ experience in the medical industry with a strong focus on hospital leadership, business development and operations concerning imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers and physician management. Previously, Mark served as the Global Head of Radiology for Siemens AG. In this role, Mark was responsible for overseeing all hospital radiology departments as well as all Joint Venture partnerships worldwide. Prior to joining Siemens AG, Mark held many leadership positions within the healthcare space.

Rich Thompson

Head of Pureform Radiology

Rich Thompson is an experienced executive and serial entrepreneur and is the Chief Executive of Pureform Diagnostic Imaging. Rich sits on the international board of the Young Presidents Organization and has investments in fitness clubs across Calgary, a wide array of real estate holdings, and private company investments. He is the co-founder, director, and CEO of Northern Vision Development LP, a real estate and hospitality Partnership, and Chairman of ZGM Collaborative Marketing, a full-service digitally-focused marketing firm.

John Hopkins

Head of Operations, IDGITAL

A founding member of IDGITAL, John Hopkins is a highly experienced professional with over 25 years spent in executive roles in the healthcare industry. Before joining Synthesis, John held roles such as Executive Vice President of Operations at Imaging Advantage and Executive Director of Operations at SXR Medical, overseeing operations of more than 70 facilities throughout 26 states.

Josh Raspopovich

Director of Clinical Business Development

Josh Raspopovich is an experienced development and strategy professional with over 10 years experience working with hospitals, health systems, telemedicine providers, and multi-specialty physician groups to create and implement growth strategies, optimize and scale operations, and close new business. Josh is passionate about improving quality and access to care for patients, exploring new care delivery models, and decreasing total cost of care. Josh’s previous appointments include VP of Practice Development for Envision Physician Services, Director of Operations Strategy and Business Analytics for Imaging Advantage, as well as Enterprise Manager of Strategy for Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

John Purdom III

Director of Technology Sales

John Purdom III is a highly accomplished sales professional with years of proven healthcare experience, ranging from Capital to Enterprise sales. He is known as an effective communicator and relationship builder and brings an extensive knowledge of selling technology in the AI/RIS/PACS arena. John has leveraged his enthusiasm and unique outlook on the industry to develop and maintain business as Director of Business Development – Diagnostic Clinical Services at Philips, VP of Business Development at SemanticMD, and as the top sales executive at Topcon Healthcare. He is also a former professional baseball player with the Cincinnati Reds and Florida Marlins organizations.

Landon Downs

The co-founder and President of 1QBit, a developer of hardware-agnostic software solutions across quantum and classical computing hardware platforms, Landon Downs is an experienced technology innovator and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Cambium Capital, a venture capital fund focused on the future of computation, and co-founder and Partner at Agentis Capital. He is a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and currently serves as the President and Director of Acumen Canada, and as a Director of the Quantum Algorithm Institute and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Science (PIMS).

Dr. Alistair Erskine

Dr. Alistair Erskine is a highly qualified medical professional specializing in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Clinical Informatics. Dr. Erskine’s previous appointments include Chief Informatics Officer for the Geisinger Health System, Associate Dean of Medical Informatics at Virginia Commonwealth University, and a member of the Virginia Governor’s Health Information Technology Commission by Executive Order. Currently, Dr. Erskine is the Chief Digital Health Officer at Mass General Brigham and has a teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School to incorporate clinical informatics into the curriculum.

Dr. Dermot Kelleher

Dr. Dermot Kelleher is an internationally recognized innovator in the medical space, currently holding the position of Dean of University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine and Vice President of Health for the University of British Columbia. He has served as the Vice President of Health and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London, where he also held a concurrent appointment as Dean of the Lee Kong Chian Medical School in Singapore. Dr. Kelleher has also served as Head of the School of Medicine and Vice Provost for Medical Affairs at Trinity College, Dublin. He received his MD from Trinity College, Dublin in 1978.

Dr. Kieran Murphy

Dr. Kieran Murphy is an experienced researcher and radiologist researcher, who previously led John Hopkins University’s Division of Interventional Neuroradiology and authored over 165 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Murphy started six medical device companies and his devices are used 60,000 times per year worldwide. He graduated in 1986 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, completing his residency at the University of Michigan. Currently, Dr. Murphy is a researcher at University Health Network (UHN) where he is tasked with the mentorship of clinical faculty at the Techna Research Institute and developing a culture of innovation in the Techna faculty.

Dr. Mark Schmidt

Dr. Mark Schmidt is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. He is a decorated academic researcher with a focus on machine learning and numerical optimization. Dr. Schmidt is a Canada Research Chair, Alfred P. Sloan Fellow, CIFAR Canada AI Chair with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), and was awarded the more recent SIAM/MOS Lagrange Prize in Continuous Optimization with Nicolas Le Roux and Francis Bach. He received his MSc in 2005 from the University of Alberta and his Ph.D. in 2010 from the University of British Columbia.

Yann Kronberg

Yann Kronberg is an experienced technology professional and angel investor, with extensive experience in start-up management. Yann has served as CTO for numerous companies, including Magikinc, Palate Club, Atomic Agro, boostr, and FANchise, where he led initiatives involving artificial intelligence and machine learning. He received his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering at Université Louis Pasteur and his Masters in Project Management at Western Carolina University. He currently serves as the Chief Technology officer for Zazmic.
